Cheer Tryouts

Dear parents and potential cheerleaders:

Before trying out, please discuss this information. Cheerleading is a wonderful and rewarding activity, but it can be very time-consuming. Cheerleaders are responsible for football games, pep assemblies, weekly practices during the school year, summer practices, basketball games, and any other activities that may arise.

THE MSHSAA PAPERWORK INCLUDED IN THIS PACKET MUST BE COMPLETED AND RETURNED TO THE COACH BEFORE PARTICIPATING IN THE CLINIC.

It should be noted that any school physical issued on or after February 1, 2018, is valid for the 2018-19 school year.

Attendance at summer practices is extremely important.

Tryout clinics will be held May 29th, 30th and 31st from 12 PM-4PM. (If those times conflict with another activity, please let the coach know immediately) Potential cheerleaders must attend each day of the clinic and be on time, unless other arrangements have been made prior. Clinics and Tryouts will be hosted in the FEMA building, south of the middle school. Both clinics and tryouts are CLOSED to everyone except those who will be trying out. Potential cheerleaders will be judged on performance at tryouts, teacher evaluations, and coach evaluations during clinics and tryouts. The participants must have a current physical with insurance information on file with us, and it must be signed by both a parent and the student before being allowed to participate in tryouts or clinics.

  • Cheerleading costs range between $100-$500 each year. There will be fund raising throughout the year to help with costs. A complete list of items and fees will be given to the new squad members and discussed at the parent’s informational meeting that will be held. We do reuse some items each year in an effort to keep the costs down.

  • A parent meeting will be held June 3rd to discuss costs, as well as, what the 2019-2020 year will entail.   We will work with you on the finances.  I don’t want anyone to be left out do to finances.

  • Practices will start in June and will continue throughout the year.

(if you have any questions please contact the coach before tryouts)

Our goal is not to discourage anyone from trying out, but to inform all potential cheerleaders and their parents of our expectations before the season begins. To be a cheerleader, you need to possess a positive attitude and be an enthusiastic participant in all activities. This is a responsibility to be taken seriously. A cheerleader’s season lasts almost all year long.
