Boys Basketball Jump Into a New Season

The winter season is coming and with it is the beginning of the basketball season. The high school boys basketball team has been preparing for the season over the past several weeks. This includes practices during the summer and the off-season. “Our team is unique because we have so many multiple sport athletes that play other sports year round. Most teams had their full team in practice last week, but we only had a few because our football team was still playing,” stated head coach Tim Brown.

There are 15 players on the team this year. This includes important returning players from last year like Garret Potter (12), Brian Carroll (12), Kyle Stacy (11), Kamron Stacy (11), Rhett Hill (11), David Oplotnik (10) and Cole Gilpin (10). Coach Brown said, “Garret was instant energy and a spark plug for us last year. We expect his role and production to increase this season.” Brown added, “Brian Carroll is a skilled forward with the ability to make perimeter shots and guard multiple positions defensively. We’re looking forward to seeing how he steps up as a senior.” Coach Brown said that all of the players were expected to perform well and continue to improve as the season goes on.

“Our expectation remains the same for our program. We want to play the game the right way and be playing our best basketball at the end of the season. We want to put ourselves in a position to compete for conference and and district championship,” stated Brown. The team will being playing against Forthsyth at home on the 21th of November. They will be participating in the tournament held in Clever, November 27th through December 2nd. The Fair Grove boys basketball team have in played in the past 5 district championships and the team is already working towards their goal. Coach Brown said, “ We have one of the toughest districts and with a lot of good players, programs and coaches. Our players are going to have to be completely bought in to accomplish their goals.”
