Grow your library at home with a small investment. How does $1 per book sound? Your dollar goes far when you stock up on books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, puzzles and games at the huge Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale Oct. 16-20 in Springfield.

The sale features items for all ages and reading levels; in all genres, from history to sci-fi/fantasy to business/economics, and best-sellers of all kinds.

The sale is at the E*Plex at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds 3001 N. Grant Ave., Springfield. Visitors can enter through Gate 4 off Norton Road, and parking is free. The Friends take cash or check.

Here’s the schedule:

Friends Night Preview Sale will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15. Friends with membership cards get in free; others may join that night for $5 at the door, which entitles free admission to Friends Night at the April 2020 Book Sale and discounts at Between Friends Gift Shops at several Library branches.

Admission is free and open to everyone the rest of the week: 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, Oct. 16-18; from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 (That’s Half-Price Day!); and 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, which is Bag Day. One sack full of items is only $1; or $5 from the Better Books side.

The prices can’t be beat: Adult, teen and children’s books and most CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, vinyl records are $1. Better books are $2 and up. This year holds an extra-large collection of vintage Max Brand Westerns, youth fantasy, vinyl LP records, Neil Gaiman books and over 100 role-playing and gaming books including Dungeons & Dragons.
